As a music educator and music therapist, my focus is to help individuals learn the livelong skills to create, improvise, participate, and enjoy music on a personal level. These skills go beyond the classroom, beyond education, and into one’s entire life. Education does not need to be an ensemble, nor a letter grade or assessment. Education can be a learning experience through discovery and process rather than seeking a positive end result.
Music Therapy is not solely a clinically-based practice, many of the greatest Music Therapists held their roots in Music Education and used their clinical skills to improve the education sphere; I aim to do the same. Much of Music Therapy is becoming the cutting-edge of education, based around a student-centered (client-centered) humanistic approach, to which I also align with.
